Young Alum
The Yale Club of South Texas is currently recruiting a second Co-Chair for the Young Alum Committee. Currently, Shantayan "Kinu" Panda is the single Co-Chair of the Young Alums. Please e-mail Kinu if you are interested in volunteerinng for this position.
The Young Alums will be responsible for coordinating social activities for recent alumni of Yale College as well as other “Ivy Plus” events (mixers, holiday parties, etc.) with other colleges.
The Young Alum Co-Chairs will update the Young Alum website with the most recent event calendar, event pictures, and event blogs. The Young Alum Co-Chairs will e-mail and invite to events fellow alumni from Yale, the other Ivies, and affinity colleges.
Young Alums are generally defined as alumni that have graduated within the last ten years. Some “older” alumni are young at heart, and so the Young Alum Committee will not discriminate based on age or year of graduation.
Events that have been popular with other Young Alum committees include:
-Happy Hours, Singles Nights, Inter-Ivy Speed-dating Lunches |
Long-term, the Young Alums will also assist in developing a Community Service Summer Fellowship (CSSF) for the Yale Club of South Texas.
Young Alums are encouraged to join the Alumni Schools Committee (ASC) to interview prospective students. You’re never too young, it’s a great experience, and it’s easy to do. (Learn more.)
If you are interested in volunteering as a Co-Chair of the Young Alum committee for the Young Alum committee, please contact Martin Acevedo, President, Yale Club of South Texas.
*Remember, the annual membership fee for the first 5 years out of college is 20 bucks, and it is only $35 for all others.
